Ages 12-15

Museum dioramas are windows into miniature worlds—these works of art bring stories to life through science! With the museum as your laboratory, this creative workshop is a hands-on experience in the research, design and construction of diorama making. Step into the art studio and roll up your sleeves for a messy week of sculpting, painting and modeling with materials like plaster, paint and foam. In conjunction with the ongoing restoration of the RMSC’s original diorama “Rochester in 1838”, you’ll work side by side with one of the leading diorama artists in the field to make your very own miniature model of the Erie Canal to be displayed in a museum exhibition. Explore scale and proportion, engineering, history and more in this new camp that is part art, part science and all things dioramas!

Extended Care options:
•    AM Care 7:45-9am: $20 for full week
Supervised, unstructured playtime monitored by Summer Fun staff. Staff will socialize and interact with campers; however, staff-led activities do not occur at this time.

•    PM Care 4:15-5:30pm: $25 for full week
